Written in 1803 by the prolific Czech master Franz Krommer (František Vincenc Kramář), this beautiful concerto stands as one of the most prominent works in his instrumental catalogue within the Viennese Classical period. Faithful to the structural tradition of its time, the piece unfolds across three movements that exhibit a markedly elegant and lively character: an energetic Allegro, an expressive and lyrical Adagio, and a brilliant Rondo (Alla Polaca) that closes the work with a great technical display. Unlike other composers of the era, there are no records indicating that Krommer was influenced by a specific clarinetist; nevertheless, the work masterfully explores the instrument's virtuoso capabilities, agility, and refinement.
